ABOUT RVA
Meet RVA Group – the global decommissioning specialists
Our background
Every company needs a ‘why?’ RVA’s story began when Richard Vann – an experienced demolition professional – sought to fill a void in the management of decommissioning works. While construction schemes were typically underpinned by robust investment and executed by carefully assembled, multi-disciplined teams, projects undertaken throughout the latter stages of an asset’s lifecycle were usually viewed as unwelcome and nuisance events. Resources without the required training and skills – as well as dangerously restrictive timeframes and budgets – were therefore allocated to such decommissioning works, which continued to present avoidable risks.
This was a challenge of vast proportions. However, bringing together a team of senior engineers – leaders in their respective disciplines – would prove to be the catalyst that started to change mindsets and completely reshape how complex projects were handled.
What we do
RVA Group has grown to become a globally renowned project management and engineering organisation, providing knowledge-based support that ensures the successful delivery of decommissioning, decontamination, dismantling and demolition projects worldwide.
By remaining completely independent from the contractor supply chain, the goal of every assignment – large or small – is to enable asset owners to make informed, best value decisions, irrespective of their operational challenges or site intricacies.
No two projects are the same, so the resource, methodology, advice, and guidance naturally differs from one brief to the next. However, a core commitment to risk mitigation and project EHS excellence remains constant.
The result is that assignments to take assets out of their operational state are planned with the same degree of accuracy and control as one would routinely expect to bring them to life, because the risks are just as high, if not greater.
Who we work with
Specialising in the high-hazard operational sectors of power generation, and chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries, RVA has a hard-earned reputation among major global brands including BASF, ConocoPhillips, INEOS, ENGIE and GSK, to name just a few.
Employed exclusively by site owners and operators, RVA is able to provide uncompromised and unbiased advice at all stages. This ensures the successful delivery of safe, commercially-secure, cost-effective, efficient, environmentally-sound and best-value outcomes on every occasion, whilst at the same time allowing clients to focus on managing their core businesses.
We have completed over 900 international projects to date, in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia.
Passionate about sharing knowledge
With over 200 years’ combined decommissioning experience, RVA’s engineers are truly committed to the development of skills, the sharing of knowledge, and the raising of standards throughout the global decommissioning supply chain. Founder Richard Vann is former president of the Institute of Explosives Engineers and the Institute of Demolition Engineers, and has been invited to deliver keynote seminars at events worldwide. He is also a columnist for the technical journal Demolition and Recycling International, and the team – as a collective – has published more than 100 articles on varied decommissioning topics.
An EPH company
In 2017 – RVA Group’s 25th anniversary year – the company was acquired by Prague-based Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH). While little changed operationally, this milestone marked the beginning of RVA’s next quarter-century, at the same time as providing an excellent platform for us to confidently strengthen the team and expand further throughout Europe and beyond.
